Karsten Schönewald was appointed Managing Director. In 2016 he had taken over as head of HPA’s watergoing fleet and was team leader on the project that developed the concept of a ship management for the City of Hamburg. Since the beginning his mis-sion focuses on more eco-friendly ship operation and innovative propulsion technolo-gies for harbour ships.

The graduated welding technology engineer is affiliated with HPA since 2009. As head of the Railway Technology Division, he was responsible for the renewal and mainte-nance of the Hamburg Port Railway infrastructure.

Karsten Schönewald is Member of the Advisory Board to Fraunhofer CML.
