
CEO, Atlantic Pilotage Authority
Sean is the Chief Executive Officer of the Atlantic Pilotage Authority (APA). The APA is one of four self-funded pilotage authorities across Canada and is responsible for providing services in 20 ports/areas throughout the Atlantic Region.
Born in St. John’s and raised in Halifax, Sean pursued a career in the marine industry starting with the Canadian Coast Guard at age 18. He made his way through the ranks of various shipping companies, eventually holding command of domestic and international ships by the age of 30.
Sean then transitioned to shore-based positions and spent several years gaining local and international management experience as a Marine Superintendent and Vessel Manager for both private and publicly traded companies
After joining the APA in February 2014 as Chief Operating Officer, Sean was appointed by the Board to CEO in July 2015. At this time, he also completed his Master of Business Administration from Middlesex University School of Business in the UK.
